Chicken Drumettes Simmered in Ajipon / Kobe-Style Chinese Chicken Drumettes with Ramen

Two chicken drumette dishes: one simmered for 40 minutes in nothing but Ajipon and water, and another taught by a Chinese restaurant in Kobe, where the drumettes simmer for about an hour in the soup base from a packet of instant ramen and are finished with a sauce of sugar, soy sauce, and vinegar. Cook the noodles in the leftover broth and you get a bowl of ramen too.

INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions

  1. 1

Choose a pot that is just the right size for the amount of drumettes. Nothing is wasted, so it is economical.

  2. 2

Put the drumettes in the pot, pour in the Ajipon and water, and simmer over medium heat for 40 minutes. Check on them as they cook and tend to them.

    0:20~40 min
  3. 3

Serve in a bowl and enjoy with citrus fruit on the side if you like.

  4. 4

The second dish is a chicken drumette recipe taught to me at a Chinese restaurant in Kobe. Pick a packet of instant ramen on instinct, take out the included soup powder, and dissolve it in hot water. Add the drumettes to the dissolved soup and simmer for about an hour.

    0:39~50 min
  5. 5

As the liquid reduces, top it up with hot water while simmering. Mix sugar, soy sauce, and vinegar to make the sauce, and prepare the vegetables.

  6. 6

Lift out the meat, plate it with the vegetables, and pour the sauce over it to serve.

  7. 7

Cook the instant ramen noodles in the leftover broth and add the included seasoning oil.

  8. 8

Pour into a bowl, arrange the noodles neatly, and finish with green onion and pepper.
